ABEDEV's Track Record

Our Accomplishments

Since its formation, ABENENGO FOR DEVELOPMENT has built a reputation for being a consistent voice for accountable and effective governance in Busia County. A sample of the latest activities that we have accomplished include:

    • 1. Carrying out regular trainings for youth on civic awareness, citizen participation, citizen-led accountability and youth income opportunities since January 2024

 

    • 2. Consistently publishing information on governance and development issues on our social media channels informing the youth of goings-on in Busia County.

 

    • 3. Organising a youth governance through sports advocacy activity with sponsorship from Siasa Place in March 2025.

 

    • 4. Leading a VSO-sponsored social audit of Busia County’s Financing Locally led Climate Action (FLLoCA) projects in Samia sub-county in March 2025.

 

    • 5. Hosting a Samia youth inaugural basketball tournament as a means of reaching out and recruiting the youth for civic engagement in December 2024.

 

    • 6. Organising a Busia County CSOs meeting with the Busia Senator which provided a platform for CSOs and the Senator to forge a constructive partnership to oversight the Busia County Executive in March 2023.

 

    • 7. Playing an active role in revitalizing the Busia CSO network comprising of 12 active CSOs to become a platform for coordinating and improving CSO effectiveness in the County.

 

    • 8. Releasing regular media briefs and handing regular petitions to the Busia County Assembly with regard to governance issues in the County

 

    • 9. Consistently mobilising youth in Samia subcounty to actively participate in the County’s annual budget development cycle.

 

  • 10. Carrying out voter sensitization civic education forums in Funyula Constituency in the run-up to the 2022 General elections.

 

  • 11. Betwwen April – July 2025, successfully lobbied the government, through KeRRA and local area MP, to murram a critical stretch of the Munana-Sigalame-Sio Port road in Funyula sub-county.
