ABENENGO for DEVELOPMENT

Our Governance Structure

The governance of ABENENGO FOR DEVELOPMENT is organised around four main structures. These are the Executive Board, the Secretariat, the Youth Leadership Structure (YLS) and the Advisory Group. The structures and their specific roles are as follows:

  1. The Executive Board – this is the top decision-making organ of the organisation. Currently, its membership consists of five (5) individuals, namely the Board Chairperson, the Vice Chairperson, the Treasurer, the Secretary (who also heads the Secretariat) and the Organising Secretary. The Vice Chairperson, Treasurer and Organising Secretary are youth aged between 21 and 30 years.
  2. The Secretariat – this is the implementing organ of ABENENGO FOR DEVELOPMENT. It is headed by the Team Lead. Its other positions include Chief Facilitator of Action, Head of Internal Controls, Facilitators of Action (4 positions), Volunteer experts (3 positions) in IT, M&E and Communication and trainers of trainers (2 positions) in civic action and youth income opportunities.
  3. The Youth Leadership Structure (YLS) – this is a platform through which ABENENGO FOR DEVELOPMENT mobilises, engages and nurtures youth for leadership. It elects youth leaders who represent the youth in the Executive Board and participate in youth activities through close coordination with the Secretariat. The Youth MP elected in the Constituency Youth Discussion Group (CYDG) sits in the ABENENGO FOR DEVELOPMENT Executive Board as the Organising Secretary, while Youth MCAs elected in the Ward Youth Discussion Groups (WYDGs) participate in implementing the organisation’s activities through the Secretariat.
  4. The Advisory Group – this is a structure constituted by volunteers with high professional skills and experience who support ABENENGO FOR DEVELOPMENT’s leadership with advice on technical, organizational and operational areas.
